Fans of girl group LOONA have turned to Tesla CEO Elon Musk in a bid to save the K-pop act.

Earlier this week, South Korean news outlet reported that LOONA’s agency Blockberry Creative was allegedly facing debts amounting to “billions of won”, potentially putting the group’s future at risk. LOONA fans (also known as Orbits) since taken to Twitter to ask the billionaire tech entrepreneur to “save” and “fund” the girl group.

Notably, Elon Musk, who is currently the richest person in the world with a net worth of USD202.2billion per Forbes’ ‘The World’s Real-Time Billionaires’ list as at 5pm KST on September 3, had previously shown love to the girl group in 2018.

At the time, the businessman tweeted about the group in response to a post by his then-partner, singer-songwriter Grimes, who has been promoting her collaboration with LOONA sub-unit yyxy on ‘love4eva’.

Additionally, Grimes had previously alleged that LOONA member Gowon was the godmother of the couple’s son, X Æ A-12, as archived by Koreaboo. Check out some of the fans’ tweets to Musk below.

Blockberry Creative’s reported financial position includes payments to several external contractors, among them are stylists as well as personnel crucial for the production of LOONA’s music, who have allegedly worked for months “without compensation”.

It is currently unclear how Blockberry Creative’s alleged financial situation will affect LOONA’s future moving forward. In June, LOONA released their fourth mini-album ‘[&]’ alongside the lead single ‘PTT (Paint The Town)’.

In a three-star review of ‘[&]’, NME’s Ruby C called the mini-album “points at a group that is unafraid to experiment with music, even if it doesn’t always work out”. She added that “this inclination to look beyond the routine will, undoubtedly, continue to set the girl group apart in the years to come.”

The newly remastered and expanded reissue is set to arrive on October 22, and will include nine extra songs as part of a ‘Lost & Found: Rarities’ disc, recorded during the same era as the original 11-track album.

Last week (September 23), the band shared another preview of the album in the form of a video for ‘Living in the Heart of Love’, which they dedicated to their late drummer, Charlie Watts.

Watts, who performed with the band for 58 years, died on August 24, aged 80. Last week, The Rolling Stones’ first show of the year was dedicated to their bandmate.

During the show, which kicked off the band’s No Filter US stadium tour, Mick Jagger addressed the crowd, saying: “It’s a bit of a poignant night for us because it’s the first tour we’ve done in 59 years without our lovely Charlie Watts.” The band also released a tribute video to Watts in the days following his death.

Last month, it was announced that the band were set to play their upcoming US tour dates as planned despite the death of Watts.

It was announced prior to Watts’ death that the drummer wouldn’t join the band on their autumn ‘No Filter’ tour dates, with his bandmates sharing messages of support. Longtime Stones associate Steve Jordan was announced to be replacing him on drums for the 13-date tour.

Watts then sadly died aged 80 earlier this week, prompting tributes to pour in from across the music world.

On September 29, the K-pop idol took to social media to unveil the first teaser image for her as-yet-untitled forthcoming single. The picture features a headshot of the singer donning a headpiece similar to protective medieval chainmail, embellished with jewels.

“New single coming soon,” Luna wrote in the caption of the posts. Further details of the upcoming release have not been disclosed but are expected in the coming weeks.

The reveal of the teaser comes two weeks after Luna first announced that she was preparing to make her first solo comeback in two years. Her last release was her 2019 digital single ‘Even So’, which also featured the B-side tracks ‘Do You Love Me’ and ‘Bye Bye’.

The f(x) vocalist broke the news with an Instagram post where she hinted that she would soon be making a comeback. “Thank you very much to MeU (the name of f(x)’s fandom) and everyone who waited for me and supported me!! [I feel] excited to be making a comeback after a long time. See you soon,” she wrote.

The singer’s upcoming return to music will be her first since departing from her previous agency SM Entertainment in 2019. Luna went on to establish her own label, Grida Entertainment, earlier this year.

Luna originally made her solo debut in 2016 with the mini-album ‘Free Somebody’. Since then she has released several digital singles such as ‘Night Reminiscin’’, which featured Yang Da-il, and her 2020 song ‘It Hurts And Hurts’. Additionally, she has established a career as a musical actress, starring in productions such as Mamma Mia! and The Days.

It comes after the band played a recording of the new singleas an outro to their set at July’s Lollapalooza festival.

At the festival, the band performed a set which saw frontman Fred Durst debuting a now-infamous ‘retro dad’ look.

‘Dad Vibes’ has now arrived alongside an official lyric video on YouTube, which centres around Durst and his new look.

Watch the video below:

The arrival of the new song comes after the band updated fans on their next album, announcing that new songs will arrive “in rapid succession, very soon”.

The band’s long-gestating follow-up to 2011’s ‘Gold Cobra’ has been known under the title of ‘Stampede of the Disco Elephants’, but it’s unclear if that is the new music Limp Bizkit are referring to in this update.

The band announced the title of the fabled album way back in 2012, and in the following years released the singles ‘Ready to Go’ and ‘Endless Slaughter’, which are all supposedly taken from the record.

In June, guitarist Wes Borland offered an update on the album, attributing many of the delays to Durst’s dissatisfaction with his vocals. “We’ve probably, in the last 10 years, been in the studio to try and complete the record, I wanna say, seven times, to different studios,” he said on Drinks With Johnny, the podcast of Avenged Sevenfold‘s Johnny Christ.

Last month, Limp Bizkit cancelled the remainder of their US tour over safety concerns. In a statement, the group said: “Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of the band, crew and most of all the fans, the Limp Bizkit show this Monday and the remaining August tour is being cancelled.

The former 2NE1 singer-rapper discussed her departure from YG Entertainment after 17 years during an interview with Dazed Korea, where she also spoke about beginning a new chapter of her career with Abyss Company, which she signed with earlier this month.

“I was nervous about what it would be like making a new start, but the artists, staff, and CEO of my new agency have been so welcoming and unsparing in their support,” she revealed, as translated by Soompi.

She also noted that her fans had sent flowers to the Abyss Company office to celebrate her new management deal. “I’m spending my days happily. Already, I no longer find this new place unfamiliar,” she added.

Later, Park explained her eight-month absence from YouTube and why she finally was ale to return to it. “I needed time to reorganise [after leaving YG], and because my editor had to quit last year due to personal circumstances, I temporarily stopped,” she said. “I’m filming [for the channel] again. I met with the Abyss YouTube team, and their passion is amazing.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Sandara Park also revealed plans to release new music in the near future. “I’ve made up my mind to focus on working on a new album. I want to return with a song that will allow me to not only showcase new music, but also a new performance and fashion,” she said of her upcoming project.

In May, shortly after leaving YG, Park shared a letter on social media regarding her departure. “Goodbyes are always the hardest to do but I take a deep breath and take a big step closer to my dream and the people who have stood by me, waiting for me to take that step,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Abyss Company is also home to several other K-pop acts such as GOT7‘s BamBam and former Wonder Girls singer Sunmi.
