Saban Films has unveiled the trailer and poster for Ida Red, and Collider has your exclusive look at the upcoming action crime thriller film starring Josh Hartnett (Wrath of Man, Penny Dreadful), Academy Award-winning actress Melissa Leo (The Fighter, Frozen River), and Frank Grillo (Boss Level, The Purge franchise). The movie will be released in theaters, On-Demand, and Digital on November 5.

Leo plays the titular Ida “Red” Walker in the film, a crime boss who appears to be orchestrating things just fine from her place behind bars, while Hartnett plays her son Wyatt, who has followed in his mother’s footsteps primarily because, as he says as one point, “it’s in our blood.” As Red faces down a hefty prison sentence, she reaches out to Wyatt to help her pull off one last heist.

The only problem is that Wyatt’s not so sure he wants to live a life of crime anymore, and becomes trapped between an obligation to family and striving to emancipate himself from his mother’s clutches. Hartnett and Leo are definitely the acting face-off of powerhouses that anchors this intense trailer, but it’s always a pleasure to see Grillo pop up when you least expect him to.

Ida Red is written and directed by John Swab (Body Brokers, Let Me Make You a Martyr). In addition to Hartnett, Leo, and Grillo, the film stars Sofia Hublitz (Ozark), William Forsythe (The Devil’s Rejects, Raising Arizona), and Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil, True Blood).

Here’s the official synopsis for Ida Red:

Crime boss Ida “Red” Walker (Oscar winner® Melissa Leo) turns to her son, Wyatt (Josh Hartnett), to pull off one last heist to get out of prison. But with the FBI closing in, Wyatt must choose between family and freedom in this high-octane thriller.

Writer and director James Gunn teased that Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) will have a more prominent role in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Commenting on Gillan’s and Klementieff’s teary reaction to the film’s script, Gunn jokingly said that the reason could not be because they had “too few lines”, as “their roles are both pretty huge.”

Replying to the tweet that comments on how Gillan and Klementieff had a “flood of tears” after reading Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 scripts, Gunn also wondered if the actress’s reaction could be explained by “paper cuts”.

Although Gunn jokes about it, the two previous Guardians films had many emotional moments, so it’s no wonder the next movie will follow the same path. Even more, considering that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 should be Gunn’s farewell to the franchise.

Besides Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn is also working on a Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, due to be released on Disney+ in December 2022. While the Holiday Special will be a one-shot, Gunn says that the production will bridge the gap between the last Guardians film and the next one and that by watching it, “you’re gonna learn stuff that you need to learn before Volume 3.”

There’s no information on the plot of either the Holiday Special or Volume 3, but both productions will bring back Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon, and Vin Diesel as the Groot’s voice. While Gamora’s fate is uncertain after Avengers: Endgame, Zoë Saldaña is expected to return at least for Volume 3.

If you recently binge-watched Season 3 of Virgin River and already miss the show, Netflix has great news for you. Fans of the drama and romance series will get to follow Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) for at least two more seasons. Based on a series of novels by Robyn Carr, the show started off as the story of a nurse trying to leave her past behind, but evolved to a drama full of twists, turns, and cliffhangers.

The news of the double renovation will certainly be well-received by fans, since the last season left some burning questions for the future, the most important being if Mel will accept a long-awaited marriage proposal. The answer may be more complicated than a simple yes or no, since she discovered shocking news that might affect her ongoing relationship with local bar owner Jack (Martin Henderson).

The renewal of Virgin River is also great news for fans of Annette O’Toole’s character Hope. Because of pandemic restrictions involving at-risk groups (O’Toole is 69 years old), the actor was sort of written off Season 3 with a storyline that saw her away from Virgin River and only popping in every once in a while through FaceTime, culminating in a shocking car accident that kept her off-screen for the finale.

At the same time, the extra season news doesn’t come as a surprise: Virgin River was the undisputed top-rated show back in July, with more than a billion viewings accumulated in the weeks after Netflix released Season 3. The number was more than double of the second top-rated streaming series that week, which was Never Have I Ever’s Season 2, with almost 600 million streams.

Aside from Breckenridge, Henderson, and O’Toole, Virgin River stars Daniel Gillies, Colin Lawrence, Jenny Cooper, Lauren Hammersley, Tim Matheson, Benjamin Hollingsworth, and Zibby Allen.

Further details of Seasons 4 and 5 are yet to be announced, but Netflix is expected to follow the same 10-episode pattern for the series. The first three seasons of Virgin River are currently available to stream on Netflix.

The final season of On My Block is coming next month, so Netflix decided to drop a trailer to reveal what we can expect from one more season in the dangerous neighborhood of Freeridge. In the story, a group of teens sees their friendship tested as they navigate high school in a dangerous and unforgiving world. The fourth and final season of On My Block will premiere October 4 on Netflix.

The new season will pick up two years after Season 3, and the trailer reveals a glimpse into the issues Monse Finnie (Sierra Capri), Cesar Diaz (Diego Tinoco), Ruby Martinez (Jason Genao), Jamal Turner (Brett Gray), Jasmine (Jessica Marie Garcia) and Oscar (Julio Macias) will have to face as a secret is unveiled in the final 10 episodes.

In the trailer, tensions get high as Monse tells Cesar she no longer needs protection and, instead, he should protect himself by going away from Freeridge. He, on the other side, says he’s destined to be a gang member, and it’s too late for him to leave. The consequences of this decision, we’ll only know when Season 4 premieres.

What we do know is that we can expect more partying, heavy drinking, fighting and a gnome cutting onions – or at least that’s what Chivo (Emilio Rivera) says it’s the reason he’s crying.

On My Block hails from Lauren Iungerich, who serves as co-creator, executive producer, and showrunner, as well as co-creators and executive producers Eddie Gonzalez & Jeremy Haft. The final season of On My Block is set to premiere on Netflix on October 4. You can watch the trailer below:

On My Block is a coming of age comedy about a group of bright and street-savvy friends navigating their way through high-school in the rough inner city. Season 4 finds our friends two years later, having gone their separate ways. When a secret is unburied, they quickly learn you can’t run from the past and they will need to stick together to survive.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s new character posters might have spoiled the return of She-Venom, a character introduced in 2018’s Venom when the symbiote bonded with Anne Weying (Michelle Williams).

The new set of posters present each of the four main characters’ faces, while a small silhouette of their super-counterparts can be seen at the bottom. While Eddie Brock’s Venom (Tom Hardy), Cletus Kasady’s Carnage (Woody Harrelson), and Frances Louise Barrison’s Spider-Man sonic villain Shriek (Naomie Harris) were already announced, while Anne’s She-Venom silhouette indicates either Venom is once again bonding with her or that Anne will get a symbiote of her own.

She-Venom showed up during Venom in a scene where Eddie Brock got separated from his symbiote. To return to his original host, Venom bonds with Anne and gets transferred by a French kiss where, technically, Venom and Eddie were making out too. If She-Venom is returning, we can get more confusing scenes we are uncomfortable to admit are a little bit sexy, which would definitely improve the sequel.

The highly-anticipated sequel of 2018’s Venom will explore how Eddie Brock and Venom keep their symbiotic relationship while trying to hold their life together. The movie will also bring back an upgraded Cletus Kasady as the main villain after the killer fuses with his own superpowered symbiote, Carnage. Although Carnage is known as one of the most visceral Marvel villains, Venom: Let There Be Carnage will stick with the first film PG-13 to sell as many movie tickets as it can.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is directed by Andy Serkis. Hardy got a “story by” credit on the upcoming sequel after working closely with screenwriter Kelly Marcel. After Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Hardy is reportedly coming back to Morbius, where he’ll join Michael Keaton. Keaton played the Vulture on Spider-Man: Homecoming, and while nothing is officially confirmed, his appearance in Morbius might indicate future partnerships between Sony and Disney’s MCU. Now that the trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home confirmed Alfred Molina returns as Doc Ock and Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin, there’s no longer a separation between Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and the MCU, so anything is possible.
