Coffee Break: Knotted Headband

I think I was updating an older story about hair accessories when I found Lele Sadoughi at Nordstrom — if you’re on the hunt for upmarket hair accessories (the pictured headband is $65, for example) then you should definitely check the brand out. There’s a collaboration with Lily Pulitzer, and I’d put the brand up there with hair accessory great brands Ficcare and France Luxe. (This knotted sweater headband is also stunning.)

For my $.02, I wouldn’t wear headbands like this for a Big Day like an interview or court appearance — but I think they can look nice on Zoom calls as well as elevating a casual outfit at work in a preppy, pretty kind of way.

Some of the other nice hair accessories for work on the market right now…

Tuesday’s Workwear Report: Tweed Jacket

Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Hello, sunshine! This tweed blazer from Talbots would brighten up even the dreariest of days. I love this shade of yellow because it can work with a wide variety of colors.

This fall, I’d wear it with an olive sheath that’s currently hanging in my closet, being criminally underutilized. Come spring, I’d wear it with light gray or white.

The jacket is $209 at Talbots and comes in plus sizes 14–22, misses sizes 2–16, and plus petite sizes 16–22.

Business Etiquette Fun: Meeting Coworkers IRL When You’ve Only Been Remote

white woman in gray blazer shaking hands with a black man in a purple suit

Here’s a fun question for today: How do you think the business etiquette has changed with regards to meeting new coworkers whom you’ve only known over Zoom or Slack — or at this point, meeting someone in person whom you’ve only worked with virtually for a year or two?

For my $.02, I really think you should go out of your way to say hi to a coworker whom you’ve only known virtually — whether you’re the boss or subordinate — just to swing by their office to chitchat in person. (If you’re the boss, though, take them out to lunch!)

Similarly, if you’re involved with HR and people are coming back to the office, are you planning more frequent in-person social events to let people get to chat more, whether it’s a cookie/donut offering at 3:00 p.m. or cocktails at a nearby patio? I’d love to hear what everyone’s offices and teams are doing to ease the social transition back to work.

I’m curious for those of you with staggered work schedules (where, say, you have two days remote and three days in the office) — are you going out of your way to align those days with coworkers whom you haven’t met yet in person? Have there been any funny surprises (like, I don’t know, realizing that your boss is like eight months pregnant without her having mentioned it)?

Air Jordan 5 Shattered Backboard – Revival of Iconic Colorway

This original article was first published here: Air Jordan 5 Shattered Backboard – Revival of Iconic Colorway

We are in the final quarter of this year with still plenty of 2021 sneaker releases to come, and one that the sneaker fans are looking out for is the launch of the Air Jordan 5 Shattered Backboard. This time it is the Air Jordan 5 that gets the Shattered Backboard treatment with a release date of 2 October 2021.

But first, let’s take a look at the history of the Shatter Backboard colorway.

History of Air Jordan 1 Shattered Backboard

The off-white, black and orange colors from the Air Jordan 1 is a colorway that was first released in June 2015. This original colorway was inspired by an exhibition game in which Micheal Jordan played put on by Nike in 1985 in Trieste, Italy. In this game, MJ’s dunk shattered the backboard. His jersey that he wore in this game was orange with white numbers and so the Shattered Backboard was born.

Carrying the familiar “Shattered Backboard” color blocking, this shoe features slightly off white tone leather uppers. It is paired with collar, tongue portions and quarter panels constructed of a textile mesh. The Jumpman motifs appear on the tongue, rear, sole and innersole, with further branding on the marked lace locks and tongue tags. What stands out are the silver speckled Air-assisted midsoles which further carry the black and orange colorway. There is also the usual translucent air part.
